Development Weekend & AGM

Our sixth Development Day takes place on Sunday, 10th July for experienced fencers and volunteers from 13 to 99 (sorry can’t cope with centenarians)

We are returning to the welcoming – Park House School in Newbury

A poster is attached with information about our guests and venue – please send it on to any friends (fencers/families) you think could benefit from coming along.

We have Akos Marinki and Gabor Papp involved with fitness and heading up the coaching

We have Jon Rhodes coming along to do a session geared to developing you, yourself as a fencer

and

We have Jorges Esteves who is also going to work with you in a practical session on the ‘role of mobility exercises in improving performance/ preventing injures’

We are going to be the first region to hold a seminar on Club Growth hosted by England.  Ray Stafford is attending for the day to lead this and then he is staying to see what else is going on during the day

The AGM will take place during lunch time.  Our region is seen as a region that is working, that has good ideas and is capable of encouraging and involving both fencers and its’ support network at what goes on.  This is thanks to all of you who have put in your time and effort, and I hope you will continue to do so.

The cost for you to attend is £25 (£30 if out of region), with family discounts – for £25 for the first member of the family and £15 for each subsequent member

also

Sunday 10 July at lunch time we will have the AGM (I promise it will not disturb too much of your lunch break) – details out in June

I hope to see many of you over the Development Weekend

Development Weekend–Coaches Only

Our fourth Coach’s Day takes place on Saturday, 9th July

We are returning to the welcoming – Park House School in Newbury

This day is only for coaches and is, this year, geared to coaches both new and experienced.

This is an opportunity for new and experienced coaches to share knowledge, tips, best practice and general hints on how to get the best out of your fencers.

Jon Rhodes is our guest for the day

He is going to hold two sessions for us;

Long-term Athlete Development

An innovative look at athlete centred development from entry level to performance programme. You will understand the principles of LTAD and be able to instantly apply what you learn to your athletes. We will predominantly be looking at Windows of Trainability, Periodisation and the importance of the training diary.

The Fencing Warm Up (and cool down!!!)

Correct warm ups will enhance athletic performance. This session will expel any misconceptions and give you the creative tools to ensure warm ups are fun and always completed properly. Furthermore, the importance of the cool down will be reviewed. This is a practical session. (come dressed appropriately)

Please bring lunch along – over lunch will be a discussion about regional group training/coaching

Please email coacheducation@southernfencing.org.uk to register your attendance

Secondly, Sunday 10th is the development day for everyone

Coaches, we hope you will attend both days.

We are going to be the first region to hold a seminar on Club Growth hosted by England.  Ray Stafford is attending for the day to lead this and then he is staying to see what else is going on during the day

We have Akos Marinki and Gabor Papp involved with fitness and heading up the coaching

We have Jon Rhodes back, this time to do a session geared to fencers

and

We have Jorges Esteves who is also going to work with fencers and coaches in a practical session on the ‘role of mobility exercises in improving performance/ preventing injures’

The AGM will take place during lunch time.  Our region is seen as a region that is working, that has good ideas and is capable of encouraging and involving both fencers and its’ support network at what goes on.  This is thanks to all of you who have put in your time and effort, and I hope you will continue to do so.

BOGOF offer – as we do appreciate what you do…

Coaches, the cost for you to attend is £25 (£30 if out of region), and only for SFR coaches that £25 is for one or both days, so it works out very cheap to come for the weekend
