Southern Fencing Region Training and Development Day–Updated!!

We are holding a development and training day on Sunday, 8 January.  This will be held at Cressex School, just 5 minutes off the M40 at High Wycombe.  During the day there will be:

Coaching on offer (10am to 3.30pm).
Shake off the Christmas break. Get ready for Spring!
Invited lead coaches will be on hand in all three weapons; Peter Wright will be leading the sabre, the epee and foil leads are to be confirmed.
There will be a £25 charge for this, (£20 for in region fencers)

a Refereeing course lead by Keith Smith – this can cover all three weapons, depending on those who book in.  The written exam for levels 1 & 2 will be available for those wishing to take it.  (10am to 3.30pm)

Peter Huggins has offered to assess the practical side for folk doing this course on Saturday, 7 January at Aldershot (yes, the day before!) and at the Slough Open, 4-5 February.  Other opportunities will be available, these just happen to be in our area.
The cost is just £10 per person

a Team Managers course (10am to 3.30pm) for those of you who might like to get involved with looking after a team – this could be at regional, home country and/or British Fencing level.  This is open to anyone who feels they would like to be considered for this role – you do not have to be a fencer or a coach, but you will be required to have a BFA CRB and done (or prepared to do) a Safeguarding course.
The cost is just £10 per person

a First Aid course (9.45am to 3.45pm) for those of you who need one – Mike Neary is very good and some of the course will be fencing specific.
There will be a charge of £40 for this certificated training.
(£30 for in region volunteers)

potential Coach Course attendee assessments – if you think you might like to become a coach or you are already a coach and would like to move up, our coach educators will be on hand to put you through you paces to see if you are ready to take a place on a course.  Our course for level one and two (any/all weapons) will be planned over the following few months with different opportunities for you to attend training and assessment days.  Please email our coach co-coordinators Ollie and Lee:  coaching@southernfencing.org.uk to let them know you would like to book a slot with our educators to assess you and to arrange to tell you how the course will run.

There is no charge for this pre-course assessment.

Tea and coffee will be provided and a tuck shop will operate.
You will need to bring lunch along.

Places on all of these sessions are limited so please apply quickly.

If you would like to attend please visit the calendar page

Please pass this to anyone who you feel might enjoy attending any part of the day

Wishing you all a fantastic festive season and we look forward to seeing you soon.
